I’m off to a Disney themed birthday party and I’m borrowing my friend’s Belle costume so I’m sorted. Only when I go to collect the costume from her house, two hours before the party, she declares that she’s so sorry and she left it at her home away from uni. Next step, try not to panic. Go home and and search every inch of the internet for an idea. Type all sorts of things into google… easy disney costumes, quick disney costumes, disney costumes from household items… Nothing seems to come up, and that’s when you have an idea. (I also love that you get a full view of my old lady trolley in the image above, oh and ignore the dirty mirror!)

Fishing out an old black vest top and old orange/yellow tank top out of the back of my cupboard, I set to work! I get the symbol off of a simple google image search and print it off my computer…

I then cut out the yellow/orange parts and the black parts separately and trace around them onto my fabric. I sew the orange section on top of the black section and then sew the entire thing onto a red blouse that I have. The best part is, I have to sew it on as I’m wearing the shirt because otherwise it won’t go over my head. Joy!
I pair the shirt with red tights (I have no idea why I have these), black heels and a black skirt (I unfortunately don’t have black shorts) but in all I think it comes off alright.
In all honesty, I know this is a complete shambles but I’m really quite proud of what I achieved in literally half an hour. The make up took a further ten to fifteen minutes but that was only because I really had no idea what I was doing with it when I started…
I used Barry M dazzle dust in Charcoal to create the mask with the No7 High Shine Lip Crayon in Berry on my lips. I really wish I had taken more pictures now, but at the time I was in such a rush and I had absolutely no intentions to blog about this whatsoever!
Hope you like it! xx

I recently took part in a production called Eden with Leicester University Theatre Society and I’m incredibly proud of the results. I just wanted to show some photos of the production, taken by the wonderful Benjamin Alborough for the society… I’m hoping there’ll be a YouTube video I can show soon as well!
Eden tells the story of Abel, an enthusiastic novice priest fresh out of the seminary who is beginning to realise the liberal style of thinking he assimilated in France isn’t welcome in dictatorial Portugal. He’s relieved when he meets the wealthy, eccentric Cesar Barbosa, and finds himself swept up in his new friend’s glamorous lifestyle. However, as he finds himself increasingly immersed in the family’s issues, he begins to realise things might not be as perfect as they seem…

I know this is not technically an “arty thing” but it’s technically something that I made, so it’s going in this category. So there! Since it was back to the gym today it’s time to get ready. You see the thing is when I was going to the gym last year I would just listen to the radio or the music channels on the screens of the exercise machines but I found that by doing that there were too many periods where I just wasn’t motivated to work hard enough… Either because of a slow song or because a radio presenter was babbling on about something. But this shall no longer be the case! I’ve made a 111 song playlist to take to the gym with me!
It’s lots of fast paced, let’s work hard tracks but I’ve got some slower stuff in here too, because I can’t be going full speed for an entire workout, plus I’ve added some songs that I know will cheer me up if I’m nearing the end a need that extra boost of motivation. Although with some of them I am mildly worried that I’ll start singing along in the gym… Nobody wants to hear that. At the same time I didn’t want to pick any of my favourite, favourite songs because I didn’t want to subconsciously associate them with the gym and not be able to listen to them anymore… A few years ago I made You Talk by Babyshambles my alarm every morning and now it just doesn’t sound the same!
| THE BEST OF THE LIST |
Here are my top ten (in no particular order) tracks on my gym playlist:
Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis
Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler
Uprising by Muse
I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked by Ida Maria
It’s upbeat and the lyrics will remind me why I’m in the gym–everyone wants to look good naked
Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas
The Final Countdown by Europe
Don’t Stop Believin by Glee
Don’t hate me but the Glee version just fills me with such joy
Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars
This was my favourite song to work out to in 2013
Somebody Told Me by The Killers
And no list would be complete without…
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
