FOTD Inspired by Tanya Burr’s Nicole x Missguided Tutorial

I watched Tanya’s tutorial, which I will link below and I absolutely loved the look she created. I decided that I’d so something similar but working with the make up items I already had. So I’d call this my recreation on a budget.

BRONZED AND SMOKEY…

And because I am so incredibly pale, here is my mandatory flash test:

I started off with my MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NC15 which I haven’t used in a while and was pleasantly surprised by when I went back to it. It glides on easily for a dewy, pretty finish that I thought was great for this look. To avoid shine in unwanted areas I used my holy grail Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 001 Transparent and then moved swiftly on to my eyebrows which I filled in using my Benefit Brow Zings in Medium. To be completely honest, I should probably repurchase this in Light because I absolutely love this product, but the medium shades are just a smidgely bit too dark for my brows.

I then moved on to the eyes. I primed my eyelids with Soap and Glory It’s About Prime Eyeshadow Underbase in Bright Light. This is my go-to eyeshadow primer: it goes on evenly leaving my lids looking light and silky and it always prevents the creasing of the eyeshadow that I so often suffer from. I then begun shading the top of my eyelid with my MAC Bronzing Powder in Goldenjust dusting it across the lid below my crease. To get the gold glittering affect I used the darkest shade of my Topshop Smokey Eye Palette in Tawnyfinally using my Sleek Eye Palette in Storm 578 to highlight my inner corners, shade around my crease and fill in my bottom lash line. Next I used Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 261 Noir along my waterline and Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in 003 Glossy Black across my top lashes, making a very slight wing. This is another of my everyday go to products. I get on really well with the easy to use brush and  the waterproof version that I’m using at the moment does what it says on the tin. I had a good old cry over this eyeliner not long ago and it did not budge! I finished off my eye makeup with Maybelline the Falsies mascara.

To clean up a little, brighten my dark circles and hide the hideous Rudolph-esque spot on my nose I used the ever loved Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in number 2 Lightusing my powder once again over my nose to make sure my spot would not make an appearance at any point later in the day. I contoured my cheeks using the Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light 884 which if I had to pick my favourite make up product that I only begun using in 2014, it would absolutely be this! The darker shade makes a brilliant contour and the lighter shade is the most beautifully glowing highlighter. I often reach for this ahead of my Benefit Sun Beam because it just gives such a lovely sparkle to my cheeks. I also used the highlight on my brow bone and on the inner corners of my eyes.

I finished off my entire look with MAC Matte Lipstick in A33 Russian Red. When I got this out of my make up case I remember thinking that this was not one of my favourite MAC lipsticks, but it finished this particular look off really nicely. I was pleasantly surprised by how it looked on and I may have take it out for a spin again sometime soon.
