FOTD: Bronze, Blue Eyeliner and Red Lip

scarlet forrest

This is a FOTD from the end of July but I wanted to share it with you because I gave the blue eyeliner trend a bit of a go. I know it’s not super dramatic, but this was a look that I actually wore for the entire day so I did want to go too far with it.

FOTD: BRONZE, BLUE EYELINER, RED LIP…

I primed my skin with my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and then went in with my Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Combination/Oily Skin in 150 Buff I’ve really been enjoying at the moment. I filled in my brows using my trusty Benefit Brow Zings in Medium which really is a go to product for me. It’s both easy to use and subtle looking. Finally I concealed my under eye area with the Benefit Erase Paste in No1 FairTo be honest with you, the more I’ve used this product, the less I’ve enjoyed it, it’s very brightening but it does have a tendency to look heavy and cakey on my skin, it’s very recently come out of my everyday make up bag.

After that I primed my eyelids with Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener. Other than the clicky pen element of this primer I really like it. It brightens and provides a really good, creaseproof base for all my eyeshadow needs. The eyeshadow in this look is a combination between MAC Eye Shadow in Woodwinked and MAC Eye Shadow in MulchThen it was time for the eyeliner. I opted for the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Sabbath which is a really gorgeous deep blue. I love the Urban Decay liners, they’re so easy to use and they last all day long. I finished off the eyes with my Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara which was featured in my April favourites.

I used my both sides of my Sleek face Contour Kit in Light to highlight and contour. I absolute adore this product. The bronze is great because it’s matte so I can use it as a full face contour without making me look like a shiny glitterball. The shimmery highlighter adds such a nice lift to my cheeks and brow bone, it’s become my highlight of choice on most days.

Finally on the lips I used my MAC Lip Pencil in Red to line the lips and add some all over base colour. I really like using a liner first because it just gives the lips more definition, particularly if I’m using a bright colour. I was going to go in with the MAC Lady Danger Lipstick but eventually decided against it just opting for Tanya Burr Lip gloss in Let’s Travel the WorldAnd that’s my final look!

Hope you enjoyed this little post. How do you wear coloured eyeliner?

Hello, I really enjoyed this post! I kinda have oily skin, and am interested in buying the Revlon foundation that you used. But I’m just a little scared that it’s gonna be really thick and cakey, so would you say that it is?

    • I’m so glad. 🙂 I don’t find the colourstay foundation cakey at all but obviously it’ll react a little differently for everyone. If I’m worried about my foundation looking too thick then I’ll make sure to apply it with a stippling brush ’cause I find they give a lighter, more natural finish. I honestly haven’t had any problems with this foundation and I love it’s staying power (especially considering I rarely powder). xx
