Mid Month Favourites: August 2015

august favourites

Yikes, I haven’t done one of these posts since January! Needless to say I’m very disappointed in myself. I’ve just had so many favourites so far this month that it would be silly of me not to get a post together to share with you all!! Mostly beauty bits but a couple of other things thrown in there too.

AUGUST MID MONTH FAVOURITES…

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser. This was such an impulse buy at the Origins counter (this happens to me all too often with new skincare) and I truly did not expect to love this as much as I do! This is the perfect daytime summer moisturiser.   I’ve been using this under my make up for the last couple of months and being oil free it definitely helps the longevity of my make up, particularity on my nose! More importantly I love the way this feels on my skin. It’s lightweight and sinks in quickly but I still feel like it adds a moisture boost! If you aren’t sold yet then it smells incredible, very fresh and citrusy, but the scent isn’t lingering if that’s not your thing. As a side note I’ve been using this every day for the last couple of months and I’ve barely made a dent in the tub, a little goes a long way!

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC15. This is my first rediscovery of today’s post. I was finding that most of my foundations were having a bad habit of rubbing off around my nose throughout the day and although I love my Estee Lauder Doublewear, it’s just a little heavy for everyday use. Anyway, I found this in the back of my stash (for years it was the only foundation I used!) and it’s since moved to my everyday make up bag. I really like the smooth, satin finish it leaves on the skin and it’s one of most lightweight foundations that gives really good medium, long lasting coverage.

Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops. Random favourite, but possibly the most important of them all. I am a terrible hayfever sufferer and its really been taking its toll this summer. Possibly the most unpleasant side affect of them all is the itchy eyes that never seem to stop. While it may seem like a stupid favourite to you, it would have been rude of me not to include this little saviour in my post! These clear up all itchiness in a matter of minutes.

Valentino Valentina Pink. I picked this little beauty up about a month ago and it’s the only scent I’ve been wearing ever since. This was launched this April and can only be described as a spring or summer daytime scent, I’ll definitely be going for something more spicy when autumn rolls around. First of all can we just talk about how pretty the bottle is? I’m such a sucker for packaging! More importantly what does it smell like? Although light and fruity there are definitely hints of musk beneath the surface, although for the most part it smells like rose and strawberries. It makes me feel summery and girly and I’m very pleased with this purchase.

The following three products can be seen in action above, or swatched just down below.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat. This is hands down the best blush I have ever used. While I’m not one hundred percent sure the colour is perfect for me, I have never been so impressed with a blush’s ability to NEVER LEAVE MY FACE. This is without a doubt the most long lasting blush I have come across, the pigmentation is beautiful and it blends out really nicely. The only thing I can see that some people might not like is that it’s quite glittery, but that doesn’t bother me at all since once its blended I think it gives a really lovely glow to the skin.

Chanel Long-Lasting Eyeliner in 997 Orchidee. This eyeliner is from the Chanel Summer 2015 collection. I have to be completely honest with you, I was completely sucked in by their advertising campaign for this collection, I never thought I’d be wearing purple eyeliner all summer long but I’m obsessed with it. Firstly I think this colour is perfect for brown eyes, usually I think my brown eyes are boring but I think this really makes them stand out. Secondly the formula is gorgeous, glide on easy application and it has a long lasting affect even when just used in the waterline. This is my surprise favourite, but I think that just makes it more exciting!

MAC Lipstick in Girl About Town. I sort of want to call this my second rediscovery but in all honesty I never stopped loving this lipstick. Probably my favourite lipstick of all time, I bought this for the first time in New York when I was eighteen and since then I think I’ve been through two or three of them. For me it’s just a gorgeous, easy to wear blue toned vibrant deep pink. It’s got a really lovely finish making my lips look full and moisturised, is not at all drying and the colour really sticks around for a considerable time.

ASOS Tasselled Sandals. There really isn’t a lot to say here except they’re sandals and they have tassels and I haven’t stopped wearing them since I got them. They’re surprisingly comfortable (they only cut me in one place and for my useless feet that’s quite an achievement). They’re really affordable too (just £25) and I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of them all summer long!

So you think you can dance. Last but by no means least is my favourite reality tv show which is finally back on television! This season they’re doing a whole street versus stage dynamic which I hated at first but now I’m starting to think might actually be pretty cool. I feel like it’s helped bring through a bunch of more interesting dancers, which is definitely refreshing. If you’re watching it then Jim, Jaja and Megz are my favourites this season, who are yours? Dancing is one of my favourite art forms and it doesn’t get more diverse and beautiful as watching dance on this show.

Do you share any of my favourites/are you not a fan? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
xx
