This last month or so has been really stressful with both essay and exam pressure and there are three main songs that I keep going back to, keeping me on course, calming me down and cheering me up.

BRAVE by SARA BAREILLES

Show me, how big your brave is
I am completely obsessed with this song right now! I had heard it a couple of times on the radio when it first came out (I really thought it was a Katy Perry song, weird huh?) and I liked it, but having listened to it properly I cannot get enough. It’s so uplifting and brings me out of any mood. I find myself singing this song in the shower, walking down the street, at work. It’s just so feel good. The video makes me smile too and this has been such an amazing relief from working just recently.

ALL OF ME by JOHN LEGEND

You’re my end and my beginning, even when lose I’m winning
I’m not going to lie to you, I hadn’t heard this song until it was featured on glee (shock, horror right?) because while I absolutely love listening to new music, I get really stuck in listening to my favourites (Rachael Yamagata, Regina Spektor, Laura Marling etc). But I loved this so much on glee that I to google what it was. And look what I found! This song is so beautiful and calming and makes me emotional and happy and uplifted. This has been a really different kind of relief for me but a welcome one all the same. I love this song, it’s a bit cheesy yes but so the heck what?

MAGIC by COLDPLAY

I call it magic when I’m next to you
Now this isn’t usually a song I would pick out but my boyfriend has sent me the link to this song on more than one occasion. Last time he sent it with an accompanying text saying something like, when I hear this song I always want to show you it. Anyway it’s a super chilled song and it’s really sweet. While I don’t know much of Coldplay’s recent stuff, I really like their older songs and this just reminds me so much of those. So pretty, chilling and just makes things better when I listen to it!
