Usually I turn on the radio and just hear noise (#oldlady) with the odd song I really like, but that is not the case right now. I am loving so much of the music on the radio at the moment and I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you guys!

Days With You by Snakehips (feat. Sinead Harnett) I am super obsessed with this song at the moment. I think it was a track of the day on Radio 1 a couple of weeks ago and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. It’s a super chilled out summer tune with a catchy chorus that I can’t help moving with and singing along to. I’m a sucker for a bit of good old fashioned repetition. I’m a sucker for a bit of good old fashioned repetition. (See what I did there?). Ahem. Anyway if you don’t listen to anything else on my list, listen to this one, it’s the bomb dot com. |
When I first heard this song I DID NOT think it would go to number one. I thought it was a bit of a guilty pleasure song and most people would hate it. Boy was I wrong and I’m so glad! Now I have no shame blasting it in my car with the windows down. I love the chill vibe of this song, it’s great for singing along because there aren’t many words and tune is ridiculously catchy. |

Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy Now I never thought I’d have a Fall Out Boy song in my favourites lists, but this is definitely not the kind of song I would usually associate with Fall Out Boy. Maybe I’ve had them wrong all this time? If you’re a fan please let me know. I LOVE this song. It’s peppy and cheerful and makes me want to dance. \o/ |
Now this is is definitely a guilty pleasure. It’s usually the sort of thing I would deplore of full of (drawn out power notes) but for some reason, that I can’t quite put my finger on, I love this song. Plus the music video is INSANE. Seriously, if you haven’t seen it you have to watch it right now, really, I insist. It makes me want to watch Dance Moms (where the girl on it comes from) but I’m worried I’ll get addicted. Thoughts? Anyway this song, yes, stellar. |

Somebody To You by The Vamps ft. Demi Lovato If you don’t hear this song and smile then you have no soul… JK… Well kind of. The Vamps are my guilty pleasure band at the moment. I’m too old to enjoy boybands! This song makes me so so happy. The lyrics are so simple but so full of happymaking and there just aren’t the right words to tell you how I feel about this song. It’s uplifting and makes my day better. |
I Will Never Let You Down by Rita Ora I always get so pumped whenever this song comes on at the gym. It’s super upbeat and happy, keeping me going when I feel like I can’t do anymore. I love the lyrics in the chorus (I’m rubbish at listening to verses properly) and it just reminds me of one of my best friends. Such a great pick me up song! |

Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith Bucking the happy happy trend at last because I do love a good ballad! Firstly I love a bit of Paloma, she’s such a beautiful, stylish woman. Secondly I really love and relate to the lyrics in the song and if that’s not enough then, dat key change doe! |
Who are MKTO and where did they come from? I have no idea but they’re doing something right. This is (another) feel good good good good good gooooood song. (Sorry but they’re my favourite kind at the moment.) I even enjoy the awkward rap midway through, which is unusual for me. It’s hard not to smile and have a polite English boogie to this pleasant little tune. |

Since it was so hard picking just eight choices, here are some honourable mentions:
- Boom Clap by Charlie XCX: A quirky and upbeat take on a love song from the girl who wrote Icona Pop’s I Don’t Care. Love this.
- Problem by Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea: This song makes me feel so fierce and sassy and I love it so much. It made me fall in love with Ariana’s voice too.
- Stay with Me by Sam Smith: This song reminds me of So You Think You Can Dance (one of my favourite shows). It’s so beautiful, crisp and a really moving, heartbreaking song that gets me everytime.
- Love Runs Out by OneRepublic: I think this was also featured on SYTYCD(?), they always seem to have the best music on there. Anyway I’ve really been enjoying OneRepublic and this song is no exception. Great gym tune! And the riff right at the end is just everything.
- Birthday by Katy Perry: Apparently there is scientific research that this song makes people happier? I’m not sure about that but I certainly like it. It’s cheeky and fun and the video is completely crazy Katy Perry style. Love this woman.
- Rather Be by Clean Bandit: I’m listening to this now thinking it should have been in my top nine. I love this song, it’s another one that reminds me of one of my best friends. I love the contrast between the slow beginning and then the build up to the up tempo chorus. Another one to dance and sing along to. No no no no no, no place I’d rather be.
- Don’t by Ed Sheeran: My very last pick is a bit of an odd one for me. Not entirely sure how I feel about this storytelling style in some songs but I think it’s really working for Ed Sheeran. He’s definitely full of sass in this song and I’m really enjoying it. Plus the chorus is a keeper.
Hope you enjoyed my song I’m loving right now review type post, let me know what songs you’re loving at the moment!
