This is the result of my shopping spree a little while ago. There was an event on in Boots which meant that you got £12 of points for every £50 you spend. There was me naively thinking I’d struggle to spend over £50 and I only went and spent £104! Still I got £24 worth of points for my effort so I’m really not complaining. Here are my purchases and my first impressions…
|BEAUTY HAUL FT. DEBENHAMS, BOOTS AND TOPSHOP
In the images above I am wearing a few items from my haul: Estee Lauder Perfectionist foundation in 1N1 Ivory Nude, Estee Lauder Lipstick in Vengeful Red and Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo.
It’s a good job I was absolutely dying to try the Estee Lauder Perfectionist foundation or I definitely wouldn’t have ended up coming home with it. The counter in Boots had two staff on, one of whom was dismissive and quite rude and the other was completely useless. She didn’t know how to colour match my skin. She picked up colours that were obviously three or four shades too dark. She was generally unhelpful and really didn’t know what she was doing. It was just one of the worst Beauty counter experiences of my life. Poor show Estee Lauder.
Anyway, I persevered and settled on the shade 1N1 Ivory Nude and I’m really pleased that I did. I’ve only used it a couple of times so far but it’s just a really lovely light to medium coverage with a satin finish. I can’t really speak for its supposed youth infusing properties because my skin doesn’t really need that just yet but I love the way it feels. It’s long lasting and it sits really nicely on my skin. It does have some small bits of glitter in it, which I rather like, but it’s not one I’d go for if you want a matte finish. Also I love the way it smells! Always a bonus. At £37 it’s the most pricey foundation I’ve ever purchased and I guess only time will tell if it’ll become a new favourite.
In the images above I’ve also got on the Estee Lauder Lipstick in Vengeful Red from the Pure Envy range which cost me £24 and I have completely fallen in love with. It’s a brilliant formula that sits so nicely on my lips even though they’re ALWAYS dry and it is somewhat hydrating. It’s a beautiful deep red sheen finish and it’s a bit of a shame that the images don’t really do it justice. It’s a lovely opaque colour that really lasts well without reapplication. I also adore the magnetic packaging, it feels luxurious and it’s a pleasure to use.
With my Estee Lauder purchases I got a little free gift in Boots, pictured below. This included the Estee Lauder Day Wear, which I’m yet to try but has a really strong cucumber scent I’m not sure if I like. I got the Take It Away make up remover which is just dreadful and left my face a big grey mess. It also came with a Pure Color Creme Lipstick in Pinkberry, a Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara, an Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair, an adorable compact mirror and two viles of the perfume Modern Muse, which is a really fresh and floral but mature fragrance. All in all I was really pleased with these gifts, not to mention the adorable little make up bag!
From Debenhams I repurchased my favourite eyecream the Origins Mega Bright Dark Circle Minimiser for £32 and also bought a little Clinque 3-Step Introduction Kit Skin Type 3 for £20, pictured above. I cannot tell you how much I have adored using this over the last few weeks! I’m actually writing up a whole post on this, so stay tuned for more info if you’re interested!
Back to Boots! I was making the most of the points event so I picked up some much needed Compeed Blister Plasters, 5 for £4.99. These are just the bomb dot com. I realise they’re an odd thing for me to talk about at length. But I get some terrible sores and blisters on my feet from almost every pair of shoes I have ever bought. I’ve tried so many different brands of plasters and these work the best to prevent blistering but also stay on the longest and don’t just peel away. I cannot recommend these to you enough!
I also got myself some cotton wool pads because I go through them so quickly. And then I headed over to pick up the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant. I’ve used the eight hour cream and spoken about how much I like it before, but it’s not very convenient or portable. I decided that this would be the perfect product to just pop in my handbag and use on the go. It’s my favourite balm for soothing and hydrating my lips. I’ve really been enjoying using this.
Finally from Boots I got myself some Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Cream Gel Eyeshadow in the colours 40- Permanent Taupe, 65- Pink Gold and 70- Metallic Pomegranate. I picked these up for £4.99 each, but these were on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots. Now so many people talk about these and I really thought I was going to love them. So far I have been sorely disappointed. I really need to give them another go but I feel like they’re lacking in pigmentation and lasting power. They crease quite considerably on my eyelids, and I don’t know, I just haven’t been getting along with them at all. And I’m so disappointed because I thought they’d be my new eyeshadow saviour for quick and easy make up.
Finally I got a little beauty item when I was in Topshop, I picked up the Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polished. I’ve used this a couple of times and I like it, but it’s not my favourite highlighter and I don’t really think it’s worth the £9 price tag. While it is in quite a big pot and it will last me a long time, I don’t think I’ll use this a great deal. I think I’m just a powder highlighter girl at heart.
And that’s it for today’s haul. Please let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think of them!
