For those of you don’t know, Wilkinson in a low end, affordable department store we have in the UK. That means that it sells toiletries and cleaners but also does D.I.Y, pets and some really lovely home and kitchen items. It’s known for being cheap and cheerful and to be honest I probably wouldn’t even think to shop there had to not worked there for three years. Anyway, they’ve revamped their whole make up section so I went in to take a look and picked up a few bits and pieces I thought I’d share with you all.
A WEE WILKO HAUL… |
First of all I bought a cute 65p box of tissues for my beside table because I liked the box and hayfever is the death of me. I also reached for two packets of 50p cotton pads because I go through them so quickly and they’re really cheap at Wilko. The final thing from the image above which isn’t pictured below was a 100ml bottle of Vera Wang Princess which was on sale at £24 and was just too good for me to pass up since it’s one of my favourite daytime scents.
Next up I spotted these teacup shaped silicone cake cases which I thought were completely adorable and I can’t wait to bake some cupcakes in them. They were only £3 for a pack of four so I bought two packs! I also picked up a really cute cake tester for £1 because my auntie recently bought me one of Mary Berry’s baking books and she says that these are very important for checking your sponge! Can’t argue with Berry!
Lastly I got a few beauty items (obviously), I picked up my favourite mascara Maybelline the Falsies Waterproof for £7.98. I also got an original Nivea Lip Butter for £1.32 because I bought the Raspberry one a while ago and while I liked the effect it had on my dry lips I really didn’t enjoy the smell. Wilko also have a new line of make up brushes out which are really nice quality when you consider that they range from £1-£3, I only bought the eyeliner brush for £3 because I really don’t need any more brushes at the moment but thought I ought to try at least one. Next I got a little pot of 50 hair grips for £1, can I just say how happy I am that these came in a little pot because I am forever losing these things and this is going to be a great way of keeping them altogether!
My final purchase was where I made a real boo boo, that’ll teach me to buy products without reading a million online reviews first, eh? Anyway I bought the Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 110 Make me Blush for £5.98 because I was looking for a nice subtle, sheer nude that I could wear during the day, since most of my lipsticks are too bold for days when I’m trying to be chill. Anyway I swatched this on my hand and it was a nice sheer pink that I thought was going to be really pretty. When I tried it at home there was zero colour payoff, it honestly look like I’d rubbed a handful of glitter into my mouth and I loathe glitter lip products. For a balm it was very dying and sort of clung to the outer edges of my lips. Not impressed.
On the whole I’m really pleased with my little Wilko haul, they’ve got some really lovely make-up, kitchen and home items in there so I’d definitely say check it out if you’re looking for something nice but isn’t going to break the bank. It’s also a great place to go if you’re looking to start up a brush collection but you haven’t got much to spend.
Hope you enjoyed my mini Wilko haul!
xx
