Ciate Caviar Mother of Pearl Nail Polish Review

One of my oldest friends bought me this the Ciate Caviar Mother of Pearl nail kit a while ago, I tried it at the time and I’m going to be completely honest I found it a bit of a faff. I rediscovered it in my drawer the other day and I thought I’d give it another go.

CIATE CAVIAR MOTHER OF PEARL NAIL POLISH…

First I had a go with the Ciate Snow Virgin polish that was provided with the kit using the Holographic Caviar Pearls on top of the second coat. The final look is shown on the right hand image above. If I’m being honest I think white nail polish is an eclectic taste and this isn’t really something I’m likely to wear.

HOWEVER, I then decided to try the pearls over some coloured polishes and I was so much happier with the results! From left to right I used the:

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Foils in np319 Silver
Primark P.S. Love Beauty in Bold Pink Colour
Primark P.S. Love Beauty in a Minty Shade
Barry M Nail Paint in 296 Coral
George Quick Dry Polish in Frost Bite (which I can’t find online and I’m gutted because I love this colour)

I think these polishes show off the pearls so much better than the plain white (even the silver shade just makes them look more vibrant!) I really liked how the blue colour picked out the different shades in the pearls and I honestly think any of the colours would make for a really pretty and complete manicure.

What I will say, however, is that there is very little lasting power on these (as you would expect). The morning after application I woke up rolling around in pearls and they continued to fall off throughout the day. Further to this they didn’t do great things to my nails, I used a base coat (as always) and when I completely removed the pearls and the polish my nails were dry and flaky which is not something I ever usually have a problem with.

All that being said I think this look would be perfect for a special occasion and would really make a statement for an important party or even a big night out.

Let me know if you’ve tried the Ciate Caviar Mother of Pearl nail kit and let me know what you think!
