Just a handful of favourites that I wanted to share with you this month. Some beauty, fragrance, tv, music and a bit of a random one thrown in there too!
JANUARY MID MONTH FAVOURITES… |
The White Company Noir Eau De Toilette. I have been lusting after this fragrance for a good few months now, I actually featured it in a wishlist post back in September. After hinting about this on more than one occasion, I was a very lucky girl and received this for Christmas. I haven’t worn anything else since. It’s the perfect autumn/winter fragrance, it’s spicy and I’d go so far as to say a little masculine, but that’s what I love so much about it. It’s such a unique fragrance (I know it’s been compared to the Jo Malone Dark Amber and Ginger Lily but other than that I’ve never smelt anything like it) and if nothing else I’d definitely recommend having a sniff next time you pop into The White Company. One of the best things about this is they have a whole line with the fragrance including diffusers, candles, hand wash, bath oil and more! Definitely tempting, this perfurme has been a firm favourite since Christmas!
Estee Lauder Daywear is not a product I thought was going to make this list but over the last couple of weeks it’s really been winning me over. Now before I begin I just want to say that I’m not overly fond of the smell, I’m fussy about scents and this is very cucumber-esque which isn’t usually something I’d go for but it doesn’t last long on the skin so I can forgive it for that. I’ve been enjoying using this moisturiser in the morning and I’ve found that of all the ones I’m trying at the moment it looks the best under make up and also my make seems to stay on the longest with this.
First Defence Nasal Spray I realise this is a bit of an odd one, but I truly believe this is the reason why I haven’t been ill all month (tough wood). I commute to London everyday with people sneezing and coughing and sniffing (sniffing is the worst, oh my goodness get a tissue!) and it’s a minor miracle that I don’t have every disease known to man. I spray my little nasal defence before I get on the train in the morning and as I finish work every evening. It might be all in my head, but I believe in this stuff, I wouldn’t be without it.
Ciate Nail Polish in Sugar Plum is the nail colour I’ve been completely obsessed with this month and it makes no sense because it’s a beautiful pastel colour, perfect for spring and yet we’re only about halfway through winter! To be honest, I just don’t care, I love this shade and I know it’ll take me right the way through to the summer months… and is currently on sale on Ciate’s website for just £4.50.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer I realise I’m very late on the band wagon for this one and everyone under the sun has been using this for as long as I can remember, but I just decided to try it and I’ve fallen in love. I love the formula, the creamy, easily blendable consistency of the product. The coverage is excellent but more importantly it’s so brightening under my eyes. I would go to work zombified if it wasn’t for this lovely little lifesaver.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara is just about the best thing since sliced bread. Both this and the concealer are products I featured in my recent FOTD post, and I’m wearing in the picture above. This mascara is just to die for! And that’s saying a lot because I rarely get excited about mascara. I haven’t really heard a lot about it around the blogging sphere, so I’d love to hear what others think! My lashes look longer and more voluminous, the formula holds a curl really well (even when I forget to use eyelash curlers) and when it’s comes to taking off my make up at around 8pm, my mascara is still intact and looking relatively good (this is quite a feat when you consider that I do my make up at around 7am, so long lasting)! I’d recommend this affordable mascara to the ends of the earth and although I have so many to get through, I’ll definitely be repurchasing this when it dries out.
Yes, yes, yes, I know I mentioned Taylor Swift in my November favourites BUT I have since (for Christmas) acquired her album and this has only solidified my love for her. It would be wrong of me not to include 1989 in my January favourites because I’ve pretty much had it on repeat for the entire month. I love every single song (which is rare) and I think I know about all the words to them too. I listen to this when I get home from work, in my car, at the gym, everywhere. I cannot get enough and I recently bought a ticket to go and see her in Hyde Park in June and needless to say, I’m very excited!
My TV favourite this month has definitely been Gotham. Now I’m a little late to the party (why is this always so?) on this one and I pretty much watched all the episodes in one go, but there aren’t that many out yet so I don’t feel too guilty about this. I enjoy superhero films and some types of crime programmes so enjoying Gotham didn’t seem like much of a stretch. It’s different than what I’d anticipated, but it’s brilliant in its own way. The characters are all so unique and interesting that although you hate some of them you also root for them too. Catwoman (who is actually a young girl in this programme) and the penguin are my two favourites and honestly, I’d watch the show just for those two. It’s set just after the death of Bruce Wayne’s parents and follows Jim Gordon in his quest for justice, righting the cities wrongs. I’ve really been enjoying it and I look forward to following the journeys of all the characters as the show progresses.
Hope the new year is treating you all well! What have you been loving this month?
xx
