Day Trip to the Zoo and OOTD!

scarlet forrest

Last monday, Ashley and I took a trip to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. It was such a beautiful day (if a little bit windy) and such a lovely experience. Although we were one of the few couples there who weren’t dragging small children along with them, I’d definitely recommend it for an amazing day out for all ages. I just thought I’d show you some pictures from our day, including a little OOTD.

You also might have spotted my “Zootime” necklace. This is a make your own words necklace I bought from Topshop a while back. When I saw it I absolutely had to have it and although it usually says Ohana, I thought this would be a welcome change for the day.

I watched Tanya’s tutorial, which I will link below and I absolutely loved the look she created. I decided that I’d so something similar but working with the make up items I already had. So I’d call this my recreation on a budget.

LUSH King of Skin & Stepping Stone Review

lush reviewlush review

I picked up a couple of bits from LUSH the other day and I thought I’d give you a little review on what I thought about them. From top to bottom on the images above are the King of Skin Body Butter and the Stepping Stone Foot Scrub.

LOOKING LUSH…

KING OF SKIN has a a 4.7 average rating on the LUSH website and is “for skin that feels royally good”. I bought this on the recommendation of one of my favourite YouTubers and to be honest it was all that I expected. I’ve been using it at the end of my shower and then just rinsing it off before I get out. At first I wasn’t sure about the residue it left on my skin but after a few tries I really began to appreciate the softness and the moisture that it was putting back in. While the smell isn’t something I would necessarily choose, it is pleasant and I’m really glad that I picked this up. It makes a welcome change from my usual bath time routine.

STEPPING STONE has a 3.6 average rating on the LUSH website and is designed so that “your feet scrub up nice”. At first I have to admit that I thought I’d made a boo boo in buying this product. It was a complete impulse buy because it looks so adorable and it smells amazing. The website describes the product as “a foot-shaped scrub to pumice away dead skin” and so my thoughts immediately turn to a firm pumice stone. This product crumbles at the touch which is something I was not expecting, but upon further inspection this is not a bad thing. I’ve taken to breaking off a piece of the scrub and rubbing it onto my wet feet, rather than using it in its current form. Of course that makes it a little bit awkward to use and although the foot shape is novel, I think they’d be better off marketing this product in a different form (in a tub perhaps). It genuinely is a lovely product, it exfoliates gently and really leaves my feet smelling minty fresh. I wouldn’t buy it again in its current form, but I do like much of what it has to offer.

Can I also just note while I’m here that the LUSH website has had a revamp since I last visited it and it looked absolutely amazing. The products are easy to find with clear reviews  and videos showing them in use. I just think it looks so tidy and I’m really impressed! I’ve popped a couple of links below if you’re interested in taking in look!

The Incredibles: A Costume in Thirty Minutes

incredibles costume

I’m off to a Disney themed birthday party and I’m borrowing my friend’s Belle costume so I’m sorted. Only when I go to collect the costume from her house, two hours before the party, she declares that she’s so sorry and she left it at her home away from uni. Next step, try not to panic. Go home and and search every inch of the internet for an idea. Type all sorts of things into google… easy disney costumes, quick disney costumes, disney costumes from household items… Nothing seems to come up, and that’s when you have an idea. (I also love that you get a full view of my old lady trolley in the image above, oh and ignore the dirty mirror!)

THE INCREDIBLES…

incredibles make upincredibles

Fishing out an old black vest top and old orange/yellow tank top out of the back of my cupboard, I set to work! I get the symbol off of a simple google image search and print it off my computer…

incredibles logo

I then cut out the yellow/orange parts and the black parts separately and trace around them onto my fabric. I sew the orange section on top of the black section and then sew the entire thing onto a red blouse that I have. The best part is, I have to sew it on as I’m wearing the shirt because otherwise it won’t go over my head. Joy!

I pair the shirt with red tights (I have no idea why I have these), black heels and a black skirt (I unfortunately don’t have black shorts) but in all I think it comes off alright.

In all honesty, I know this is a complete shambles but I’m really quite proud of what I achieved in literally half an hour. The make up took a further ten to fifteen minutes but that was only because I really had no idea what I was doing with it when I started…

I used Barry M dazzle dust in Charcoal to create the mask with the No7 High Shine Lip Crayon in Berry on my lips. I really wish I had taken more pictures now, but at the time I was in such a rush and I had absolutely no intentions to blog about this whatsoever!

Hope you like it! xx

St Patrick’s Day Green Themed Inspiration!

st patricks day outfit

In case you weren’t aware, it’s St Patrick’s Day today… so happy St Patrick’s Day to you laddy! What this means is you should don your best green outfit, get out your lucky horseshoe and your four leaf clover and tuck into a nice pint of Guinness… Nom! Seriously though, this holiday has inspired to pick out some of my favourite green things. Here we go.

GOING GREEN FOR ST PATRICK…

Firstly the three dresses above are from Topshop (£60), Pixiemarket ($55) and Arrogant Cat at ASOS (£55) respectively. I think all three of them are absolutely adorable and if you’re looking for a pop of colour to spice up your spring wardrobe then these are as good as any!

jeffrey campbell boots

Next I spotted these absolutely amazing platforms from Jeffrey Campbell ($185). They’re mega pricey but the mint green colour is just so pretty. They’re leather lined with a suede finish and to be frank they’re just to die for. If I owned a pair of shoes like this you’d never get them off my feet!

michael kors green bag

This Michael Kors bag (£242) is also super precious. I’d find it hard to commit to a green bag for that amount of money because green has never been one of my main accent colours (I myself have two bright red handbags) but if you think you could pull it off, this would be an amazing statement piece.

topman mint shirt

Not to leave out the boys… I’m also super in love with this shirt from Topman (£25). Now I feel like I’m kind of cheating here because this is one of the things I bought my boyfriend for his birthday, but I absolutely love it. I realise it looks a little blue in the image but it’s very green in person and it’s absolutely on trend for spring!

green zara coat

Last but by no means least this is gorgeous coat from Zara (£69.99) which I think is just so so beautiful. In fact, if you’re looking for a new coat at the moment, you’d be a fool not to look in Zara first of all. They have so many stunning, colourful spring jackets in at the moment and I just want to scoop them all up (I’m such a coat fiend). In any case, this beautiful green wool coat does not disappoint.

That’s it for my green roundup! I really enjoyed looking for new items and it’s really got me into the spirit of Paddy’s Day!

xx
